Fairmont Wedding

Fairmont is a city in Martin County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 10,889 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Martin County6.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 42.8 km (16.5 mi). 37.7 km (14.6 mi) of it is land and 5.1 km (2.0 mi) of it (11.86%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 10,889 people, 4,702 households, and 2,962 families residing in the city. The population density was 288.6/km (747.5/mi). There were 5,036 housing units at an average density of 133.5/km (345.7/mi). The racial makeup of the city was 95.59% White, 0.44% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.66% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 2.21% from other races, and 0.96% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.98% of the population.

There were 4,702 households out of which 28.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.0% were married couples living together, 9.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.0% were non-families. 33.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.25 and the average family size was 2.86.
